Apartment Living Room Design

I am so excited that my sister is moving back to Dallas, and that she has asked me to help design some of the rooms in her apartment using renter friendly pieces. Lane is fun and feminine. She wants to play with color in this space, which obviously I love! And this makes this project so much more fun.

The first design I put together for her was her bedroom design. You can check out the design for that room in this space here.

Now I have started focusing on her living room. Her living room is one of those open concept spaces that is a kitchen/living room space. Lane had a couple existing pieces and things she already had picked out to use in this space.

  • She has these hot pink bar stools that she wanted to still use in this room.

  • She also already has the beige couch and tufted chair, which made the furniture easier in this room.

  • She found this removable wallpaper from Magnolia home that she wanted to use on her media wall, so I needed to figure out how to use that in the color palette.

Based on that, here is the design I came up with:

I started this design by finding the rug. I usually use a rug or a painting for inspiration. This time I used the rug. This rug was a great find because it matched the hot pink bar stools and the wallpaper she wanted to use.

From there, I found the painting that incorporated all those colors. Once I had that, I could add the accent pillows and the coffee table accents to really tie the look together.

What do you think? I think this is the perfect combination of fun and feminine while also being a great space for a post grad apartment.

I am working on a few e-design projects right now, so send me an email at carolinesearshome@gmail.com if you want me to put together a design for your room.
