Best DIY Tools

Having the right tools for your DIY project is important to the success of your next project. First, you need to make sure you have a working toolbox. I am not going to lie to you - I still use the hot pink toolbox I got when I graduated high school, but it does the job. I have upgraded the items along the way. Now I have a toolbox with a nicer hammer, several screwdrivers, nails, screws, measuring tape, a crowbar, and a level. These get me through the smaller DIY projects, but if I am looking to build something or have a more advanced project, I need power tools to do this.

My favorite DIY power tools to use are tools from the Ryobi line at Home Depot. I love these because they are easy to use and the batteries are interchangeable. As my husband and I have grown our tool collection, we always pick Ryobi tools. We have a multi-battery charging station in our garage, so as we start working on projects, we never run out of battery power. It is an awesome set up. I highly recommend their products.

When you are first getting started with DIY projects, these are best tools I recommend to add to your toolbox:

A power drill is the number one power tool you need to have in your toolbox for DIY projects. This is a very versatile tool that can do anything from driving in screws or mixing concrete. As a DIYer, you will most likely use this for hanging items to walls, putting furniture together, or sanding items.

I love my impact driver. We use this tool all the time at our house. This is different than a power drill because it drives and impacts at the same time allowing you to drill into hard surfaces like wood. We use this to build furniture or hang items into wall studs. The Home Depot Blog gives a very extensive review of Impact Drivers and Drills if you are interested in learning more.

The circular saw is the go to saw you need for all your wood projects. This tool allows you to cut through wood quickly. The tool is portable and can be used to cut through several different widths and types of wood. You will definitely want this tool if you are working with wood of any kind.

These three tools are the perfect tools to get you started with on DIY projects. These are the tools we use in our house, and they haven't failed us yet. If you are looking for a one stop package shop to get all these tools, check out this tool pack from Home Depot. It's a great prices and gives you all three of these tools and a few more handy ones to add to your tool box.

If you are wanting to go above and beyond the three new tools. There are two additional tools I recommend to round out your toolkit. First, another saw to add to your list is a miter saw. I love the Ryobi Miter Saw. The miter saw allows you to do cuts and angles that aren't as easy with the circular saw. The second tool to add to your list is the Kreg Pocket-Hole System. This will help you with woodworking and shelving projects. Pocket-holes hide the screws to give you the professional carpentry look.
