Favorite Project of 2020

As I begin the New Year and start planning for 2021, I have been doing some reflection on all the projects I have accomplished this year. Like most people, this year was tough for me. It was tough not getting to see friends and family, and isolation has been rough. However, the one silver lining of this year was that I was able to spend way more time on my home and working on my favorite DIY projects.

I am actually really proud of all the projects I have accomplished this year. Some have been small and some have been large. I have even moved homes this year which broadened the projects I was able to finish this year. So as I looked back on all my projects in 2020, it was really hard for me to pick my favorite. I was able to work on projects for my friends, I was able to work on projects with my sister, Lane, and my husband, Matt, and I was able to make huge impacts in my space. Narrowing this down was not easy.

However, I finally narrowed it down to this one project. This was my favorite project of 2020 for a few different reasons:

  • I was able to work on this project with both Lane and Matt

  • I made a gross space in my home livable

  • It has an awesome before and after

  • There was a lot of blood and sweat put into this project

  • I was able to spend a ton of time outside during the only nice part of the year in Dallas

Any guesses on what the project is?

If you guessed my backyard patio renovation, you are correct!! Y'all I had so much fun working on this project. This is also probably the project I am most proud of. I built things in this project I never thought I could do. And this before and after. I know I am biased. But dang it is a good one.

If you haven't seen this project, let me give you some details. I renovated my back patio to make it a livable space in our home. This is what the back patio looked like before I renovated it. Gross. Gross. Gross.

Over the span of a couple months, I made a ton of updates:

The end result was pretty amazing. I love it!!

Great before and after, right?? I have included all the product's I used for this transformation below.

What do you guys think of this project? Was this one your favorite? Do you have another favorite?

Stay tuned for all the projects I have planned for 2021. They are going to be some good ones!
